Can this pecan pie be frozen?
Yes!
The temperature for this recipe is way too high. My pie is burnt. My Mom said the temperature should have been 300 degrees.
Great Recipe.
I have made this pie for years, the only recipe I use and it is excellent.
Like any pie, you need to protect the edge crust from over toasting. Put a makeshift rim of foil around the edges, or a manufactured device. A golden crust is what you are looking to achieve. Also, that creaming of butter and brown sugar is so dust blow. Instead, blend well the liquids and sugars, then add the stated amount of butter, melted. Lastly, chop some of the pecans. It makes for a better distribution of nuts at plating time.
All in all, this is a great recipe, using a unique (of this day) product.
this is not the original alaga recipe from the back of the jar. luckily i was able to find where i had taken a photo years ago. this pie tastes good but i had to cook it for 45 minutes longer than this called for. i will only use the original from now on – the filling is cooked some on the stovetop before going into the shell.
I liked the original recipe.
