How should ALAGA products be stored?
ALAGA Cane syrup, ALAGA Yellow Label Syrup, and ALAGA Hot Sauce may be stored at room temperature both before and after opening. ALAGA Yellow Label syrup and ALAGA Hot Sauce may turn slightly darker with age, but this is normal and not harmful. It is recommended you shake the ALAGA Hot Sauce prior to use since the pepper solids & vinegar in the sauce may separate out over time, this is normal and not harmful. Bottles may be refrigerated after opening; however, the syrup and hot sauce may be thicker and harder to pour when cold.
How long can ALAGA products be stored?
For best results, we recommend using before the “Best By” stamped on the container. The shelf life for all our current syrup products is three years from the date of manufacture.
Unopened ALAGA syrup will remain safe to use indefinitely provided it has been stored unabused and the package was sealed and undamaged. Our products are marked with a “Best By” date but this is not a safety date, it is our estimate of how long the syrup will remain at peak quality.
How do I read the bottle code on ALAGA products?
The bottle codes for ALAGA products are located on either the top of the cap (ALAGA Cane and Yellow Label) or on neck of the bottle above the label (ALAGA Hot Sauce). The code on the ALAGA syrup products (Cane and Yellow Label) appears like this:
BESTBYSEP282026
AC1215
The first line of the code provides a best if used (Best BY) by date. In the example above, it would be best to use this product by 28 September 2026.
The second line of the code provides information to the manufacturing plant if there is a consumer issue with the product. This information helps the plant identify the specific product “lot” along with the date and time of manufacture so the issue can be researched. If you would like to report an issue with a product, this information will be requested.
The code on the ALAGA Hot Sauce appears like this:
C1819MAR
USE BY
MAR/18/2026
The first line of the code provides information to the manufacturing plant if there is a consumer issue with the product. This information helps the plant identify the specific product “lot” along with the date and time of manufacture so the issue can be researched. If you would like to report an issue with a product, this information will be requested. The second line of the code provides a use-by date. In the example above, you should use this product by 18 March 2026.
Why is caramel coloring an ingredient in some ALAGA products?

All ALAGA products are formulated with no gluten-containing ingredients but they have not been tested or certified to be gluten-free.
Our products are labeled in compliance with government regulations; however, we believe the best practice is for you to read the label on all products to determine if it meets your required needs. Parents and individuals with food allergies are responsible for reading the label of all products they intend to use regardless of how the information is presented here.
How do I know my ALAGA product is properly sealed?
We use three different types of caps on our ALAGA products depending on the type of bottle. Our ALAGA Cane and Yellow Label syrups use a yellow, plastic, flat cap that is approximately 38 mm in diameter. Underneath this cap is a silver foil seal that provides a leak-proof seal with the top of the bottle rim. This seal ensures both the quality and safety of the product. If this seal is missing or broken do not use this product.
Our ALAGA Hot Sauce uses a yellow, plastic, flat cap that is approximately 20 mm in diameter. Over the top of the cap and neck of the bottle, there should be a yellow shrink sleeve that covers the cap and neck of the bottle. You should not be able to remove this sleeve without cutting or tearing it off. For this bottle, the cap has a small paper liner on the inside of the cap that creates a seal with the rim of the bottle for product quality. The yellow shrink sleeve on the outside provides assurance of product security. If this seal or sleeve is missing or broken do not use this product.
